The Brecon Beacons National Park is one of the only three national parks located in Wales. It is mostly centred on the Brecon Beacons range of hills which include the Black Mountain, Fforest Fawr and the Brecon Beacons. In 1957, the park was the last of the three Welsh parks to be established.
While most of the 519-square-mile protected landscape is covered in bare, grassy moorland, there are still a few areas that have forestry plantations and pastures. The park even features a few waterfalls such as the 90-foot Henrhyd Waterfall and another one at Ystradfellte.
Currently, the Brecon Beacons National Park is popular among visitors who love to go walking, horse riding, cycling, mountain biking, rock climbing, gorge walking, caving, caravanning, camping and caving. The national park is also a protected seascape and provides a great place in which visitors can go windsurfing, sailing, fishing and canoeing.
The Brecon Mountain Railway also runs through the national park.
The park does not belong to a single city limit. You will find the exact location of Brecon Beacons National Park on the map above. If you need any other information on Brecon Beacons National Park that is not listed here, please call 01874 624437 or visit their website.
