Officially called Her Majesty’s Royal Palace and Fortress of the Tower of London, this UNESCO World Heritage Site is actually a historic 12-acre castle found near River Thames in London.

This cultural site was first built in 1078 when William the Conqueror had the White Tower put up. It was a symbol of oppression that the ruling elite inflicted upon London. Throughout English history, the castle played a lot of important roles as controlling often equated to controlling the entire country. The Tower has also been used for several purposes including as a treasury, an armoury, public records office, menagerie, home of the Royal Mint and even home to the Crown Jewels of England.

It was in 1988 that the Tower of London was designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site with the official name London Borough of Tower Hamlets, perhaps due to its location. The site currently receives about 2.7  million visitors each year.

Besides this landmark, there are thirteen more landmarks listed in London. There's also two hundred and fifty-two attractions listed in this city in other categories. Tower of London

You can't miss this amazing Tower of London while visiting the Tower Bridge. To me it has a better view than the Buckingham Palace.
