North York Moors National Park

This national park found in North Yorkshire in England has one of the largest expanses of heather moorland in the entire country.

Established back in 1952, the 554-square-mile North York Moors National Park features three main types of landscape: the North York moors, limestone belt and the coast. The moors are where a lot of sheep can be found grazing, which helps maintain its open wild landscape. The limestone grasslands boast of a wide variety of wild flowers while the coast has an assortment of seashore habitat.

North York Moors National Park is popular for walking but they are also frequented by visitors who want to go cycling, mountain biking and horse riding. The edges of the park are also popular among several gliding clubs. The national park also has two visitor centres, located at Sutton Bank and The Moors National Park Centre in Danby, that do not only have tourist information but also exhibitions and galleries.
