The upland area of England is the location of the Peak District National Park, which is the first national park in the United Kingdom, established in 1951. Most of the park can be found in Derbyshire but some parts of it can also be found in Cheshire, Staffordshire, Greater Manchester and Yorkshire. Because the park is extremely accessible from Sheffield and Manchester by road and rail, it is able to receive up to 6 million visitors each year.
Although a majority of the residents within the park are employed by Hope Construction Materials, its tourism industry has been seen to become a major player in its industry. The Peak District provides plenty of outdoor activities for its visitors including long distance trail walking, hill walking and hiking. Bridleways is also popular among visitors who want to go mountain biking and horse riding. Other visitor attractions such as historic buildings, museums, local towns and villages and events can also be experienced within the park premises.
